Diazepam is an off-white to yellow crystalline powder. Practically odorless. Tasteless at first with a bitter aftertaste. Diazepam has a role as a xenobiotic, an environmental contaminant, an anxiolytic drug, an anticonvulsant and a sedative. It is a 1,4-benzodiazepinone and an organochlorine compound. Diazepamum Powder belongs to a class of drugs called benzodiazepines. A class of drugs refers to medications that work similarly. They have a similar chemical structure and are often used to treat similar conditions.
What is Diazepam?
Diazepam is a benzodiazepine derivative with anti-anxiety, sedative, hypnotic and anticonvulsant properties. Diazepam potentiates the inhibitory activities of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) by binding to the GABA receptor, located in the limbic system and the hypothalamus. This increases the frequency of chloride channel opening, allowing the flow of chloride ions into the neuron and ultimately leading to membrane hyperpolarization and a decrease in neuronal excitability.
Effect of Valium Powder?
Diazepam can cause regular use over a short period of time, especially psychological, but also physical dependence. This applies not only to misuse, but also to the therapeutic dose range. In Germany, about 1.9 million people are dependent on substances in the benzodiazepine class. The sudden discontinuation of therapy after prolonged use can cause severe withdrawal symptoms.
When is use Diazepamum Powder?
Diazepam is almost completely absorbed after oral ingestion. The metabolism comprises predominantly the steps N-demethylation and hydroxylation and provides the active degradation substances desmethyldiazepam, temazepam and oxazepam. It has a long half-life (20 to 100 hours) and shows a rapid onset of action due to the high lipid solubility and the therefore good passage of the blood-brain barrier, but has only a short duration of action (i. v. “Bolus” Diazepam only 10 to 20 minutes).
How long does Diazepamum Powder last in the body?
Diazepam is an N-methylated benzodiazepine and characterized by a lactam structure. Diazepamum Powder was first synthesized in the mid-1950s by Leo Sternbach from chlordiazepoxide. Alternatively, Sternbach published a synthesis route starting from p-chloroaniline via 2-amino-5-chlorobenzophenone and glycine ethyl ester hydrochloride.
